Volunteer Leadership Virginia produces, presents, or provides support to professional development and educational initiatives to develop and empower current and future volunteer Fire and EMS leaders. Our mission is to equip these individuals with essential skills that go beyond firefighting and patient care, enabling volunteers to excel in personal leadership, in small group and station-level leadership roles, and when representing their departments in the community.
We place significant emphasis on fostering the development of knowledge, skills, and abilities in crucial areas such as communication, decision-making, engagement, strategic thinking, problem solving, influence, resilience, and persuasion. These specialties serve as the foundation upon which Fire and EMS volunteers can develop powerful leadership abilities.
We are dedicated to providing students with comprehensive resources, tools, and knowledge to inspire and lead their teams toward the highest levels of success, whether on or off duty. Our ultimate objective is to support leaders within the volunteer Fire and EMS services to initiate positive change within themselves, their teams, and communities. By doing so, they will build a profound and enduring impact, leaving a positive legacy for future generations and making a significant difference in the world around them.
